Richard Lang: Poetry in the Courtyard

Richard Lang is a contemporary Renaissance man of many talents. Well known for his gift of nurturing other artists at Trillium Press and now Electric Works, Richard is also and accomplished artist and performed as the Poetry Juke Box. Several years ago he debuted his own poetry. The genius and originality of his work has gained a tremendous following. This is an event not to be missed.

Homeland: Four Portraits of Native Americans

When the inventor of popular Cliff Bars and Luna Bars sold her business, she set out to use her profit to cultivate our awareness of the diversity and richness, and need of other cultures. She and a film maker friend made this award-winning film that gives us the privilege of hearing from four eloquent Native American leaders in four different parts of the United States.

This event is a movable feast of natural beauty, stellar art and sumptuous food!

Bob and Daphne Bransten have invited us to a rare and memorable tour of several sites, overlooking the sea, that display their renowned collection of British contemporary sculpture. There are new works and new installations in garden, gallery and home settings. You will come away with a fresh excitement for the fascinating world of the international art scene.

Then stroll across the street to the home of Melinda Griffith and Aenor Sawyer, with another stunning panorama of Bolinas Bay, the Ridge and Ocean, for a feast of wine and delicious hor d'oeuvres catered by Indian Peach. Enjoy an afternoon in excellent company with old and new friends.

To begin this experience, you are invited to arrive at noon and wander through the fragrant and full-bloom splendor of Sally Robertson's famous gardens and visit the lovely koi filled lily pond.

Artist As Living Sculpture: Sha Sha Higby

Performance artist Sha Sha Higby's fabulous costumes and other creations are the featured exhibition in the Bolinas Museum's main gallery. Sha Sha performs all over the world in her extravagantly creative hand constructed costumes. Sha Sha will be a living sculpture in one of her costumes that are a wonder to behold.

Tour: Frescoes at St. Seraphim of Sarov

St. Seraphim of Sarov Orthodox Church has embarked on a project to cover the entire interior with traditionally painted frescoes. In this unusual tour, the artists; who have trained in the ancient techniques of frescoe painting, will show us frescoes at every stage and explain the multi-layered process from first plaster and grinding pigments to glowing finished works. You will gain an enhanced understanding of the intricacies of this art form for the next time you are standing before frescoes anywhere in the world.

We will meet at 9 AM and travel by bus for a convivial ride to Santa Rosa through the back roads and summer hills. On our way back, the bus will stop at the historic Marin French Cheese Factory where we will sit by the lovely duck pond and enjoy delicious boxed lunch from della Fattoria Bakery in Petaluma.

$100 per person for members, $125 for non-members. This includes the tour, lunch and bus transportation to and from Bolinas. ($60 per person for members without transportation, $85 for non members without transportation.) The bus is limited to 20 people, the tour is limited to 35 people.
